Taylor's Hair Gloss
Franklin R. Taylor, of Waverly, New York, registered a Patent for this Hair Dressing in 1871 (Patent #114,223). The product consisted of
3 quarts of wine spirits, one pint of castor oil, 4 ounces of glycerine, 2 ounces of aqua ammonia, 2 ounces of tincture of cantharides (spanish fly), 1 1/2 ounces of common salt, 1/2 ounce of camphor gum, 1/2 ounce oil of bergamot, 1/2 ounce of tincture of red aniline, 1/4 ounce of cinnamon oil, and 1/4 ounce of oil of citronella
