The earliest ads for this product (1861) indicate that it was made by M. P. Henry & Co. of New Orleans. By 1868, it was for sale in most major cities. Charles M. Brown, of Grinnell Iowa, registered this brand name as shown as a Trade Mark in 1892 (TM #20,546). He claimed to have been using the name since 1890. In 1900, A label was registered for the brand by the Eureka Hair Restorative Co., of Chicago (#7,564).
More than likely some of these Proprietors were ripping off the originator, but the lable that was registered here appears to be a fit for the space on this bottle, so I'm associating all of this together. The one sold in San Francisco may have also been a direct rip off from this one, but it is listed separately because of the different bottle (View). There is a good chance that there was some relation between this Brown, and the C.E. Brown (also of Grinnell Iowa), who invented the Globe Hair Restorative & Dandruff Cure.
