Anthony G. Jourdain started out as a Barber in New Bedford, Mass. in 1855. Anthony G. Jr was already in business with him at that time. By 1867, Anthony Sr was a Hairdresser/Wigmaker at 63 Union, and his son was a Hairdresser at 122 1/2 Union. The same year, Mrs H. C. Jourdain was first listed as a Ladies Hairdresser at 80 Union. For several years, they continued the family business on Union Street. In 1871, Annie Jourdain was listed as the widow of Anthony. The following year, Anthony Jr took over the other location. Mrs H. C. Jourdain continued in business until around 1874. Later, from 1885 until 1896, Katie Jourdain was running the Ladies Hairdressing business. Anthony Jr. stayed in business until around 1893. In 1889, he had a Bath House at 75 Union, as well as his Hairdressing business. An ad in the 1865 New England Business Directory listed their preparations for the hair.
