Fred W. Fitch registered his last name as a Trade Mark for various hair preparations in 1908 (TM #69,936). He indicated that he had been selling his products since 1893. According to Devner, the F.W. Fitch Co., later called Fitch's Ideal Dandruff Cure Co., was originally located in Boone, IA. Apparently, he was in business between 1905 and 1915. Fike said the company later marketed a Dandruff Shampoo which was advertised as late as 1948.
