George W. Dam was a Barber in Portland Maine in 1850. He was also listed there in 1840, but they didn't list occupations that year. In 1838, he advertised both the Indian Oil and Russian Dye in the Bangor Daily Whig. By 1860, George had moved to San Francisco and become a Real Estate Broker. Interestingly, another DAM (Alphonse) also move from Maine to SF and was a Hairdresser there.
