There has been plenty written about the Comstocks over the years. There was a Samuel Comstock who was originally from Conn. and moved to New York around 1800. He had five sons, all of which were involved in the Druggist / Patent Medicine business at some time. Edwin Perkins Comstock started the business around 1833, but he died in 1837. Apparently after that the other brothers fought over the business for years. The Comstock & Bro. that is listed on several of these preparations consisted of John Carlton Comstock and George Wells Comstock. They were listed under Patent Medicines in New York City in 1859.
