This was one of the products of Paul Westphal of New York City. Westphal registered a label for his "Auxiliator" in 1883 (view). Then, in 1903, he registered the brand name as a Trade Mark, and claimed to have been selling it since 1882. The label on the Auxiliator said it was 55% grain alcohol. This labeled example also mentioned the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906.
