| William M. Stark, of Mayfield, Kentucky, registered a Patent for a Hair Tonic in 1883 (Patent #284,918). The preparation was composed of coal oil, bay rum, alcohol, and oil of bergamot. In 1899, this label was registered for the product, and by that time the Proprietor's name was John Stark. |
