Reeve's Ambrosia was advertised in 1864 by Reeves & Co. at 62 Fulton, New York. The company was in business through 65, and made up of D.M. and James Allen Reeves. In 1867, James Allen Reeves was listed alone under "Patent Medicines." By 1868, he was a Butcher. The product was still listed for sale in the 1901 Morrison & Plummer catalog
The second 1864 ad gives a list of ingredients in this concoction. It's great! I mean this stuff was basically a kitchen sink of all known hair tonic ingredients. Burdock Root, Witch Hazel, Sage, Bay Berries, Southern Wood, Rosemary, Macassar Oil, and, of course, the secret ingredients.
