| This product was sold by E.W. Hoyt Chemical Co. of Lowell, Mass. Eli W. Hoyt was born in New York around 1838. The census had him listed in Lowell, Mass. as follows: Clerk (1860); Druggist (1870); and (German Cologne) by 1880. The German Cologne was his most famous product. According to Fike he started selling it in 1871. The product is still for sale by J. Strickland, of Memphis (View Ad). The German Cologne was also sold by F. Hoyt & Co., Perfumers in Philadelphia. I believe this was an imitation of the original. I am not sure when this "Clarified Caster Oil" product was for sale.
