This brand name was registered as a trademark in 1880, by Thomas H. Hearn & Co., of Boston. At that time, Hearn indicated that he was the only member of the firm, and that they were just starting to use the brand name. I found Hearn listed as an Apothecary at 102 Harrison, from 1882 until 1890. The label shown was included with the trademark petition as an example of how the trademark was used. In 1919, Mary A. Keffer, of New York, registered the same name as a trademark. It is not known when Beal, Streit Co. acquired the brand. I found advertisements for the product from 1900 until 1913. Bottle description courtesy of Jim Bennett. The label on the large bottle looks just like the smaller one.
