Clemens Groos, of Riverside, New Jersey, registered a Patent for a Hair Tonic in 1889 (Patent #413,395). He said it was to be used to make hair grow on the human skin. He said that to make a 3 ounce bottle, he would use 1 teaspoonful of the pollen of pine blossom, in a solution of 75% water and 25% alcohol.
