Barton Denton was a Patent Medicine Manufacturer in Auburn New York from the 1840s until around 1878. Fike indicated that B. Denton's Healing Balsam was one of his products, and that it was advertised in 1847. In the 1859 New York State Directory, there was a large ad for Denton indicating that he manufactured "Denton's Balsam and Hair Invigorator, also Hair Restorer for changing hair to its original color and beautiful lustre, called Norwegian Hair Dye." In 1872, he was also making "Extracts, etc." By 1879, Polly Denton was listed in Auburn as the widow of Barton. According to Devner, Denton's products were still being marketed in 1912 by Hall & Ruckel in New York.
