Conrad Beyer, of Cologne Germany registered a patent for a hair tonic in 191o (Patent #946,633). He said "The new substance according to the present invention by feeding the hair roots strengthens the growth of the hair, purifies it, lends it gloss and natural color; it is further applicable in those cases which suffer from loss and discoloration of the hair. His patent actually consisted of a method to produce a composition made from hair to apply to hair.
