This product was an imitation of the original Batchelor's Hair Dye. In order to make it more desirable than the original, the bottle is a lot larger and is pretty enough to make a great dresser bottle. An 1856 ad for the original said this: "Beware of an imitation, called D. Batchelor's Hair Dye, of Utica, New York, and hawked around by Tuttle & Moses, of Auburn."This bottle became available on Glassworks Auctions in June of 2016. It's one of the best hair preparation bottles known. Pictures courtesy of Glass Works.
